Welcome to the Path of Bellum Aeternus, Warhammer On-Line Before reading this document, you should have already read the The Path of Bellum Aeternus.
BACKGROUND
Bellum Aeternus began in Planetside and has since expanded to multiple gaming provinces. At our core we will always be a family oriented group dedicated to providing a fun environment with a specific focus on teamwork. We believe every player has a right to enjoy their gaming experience and the past has shown us an organized group is a fun group. If you are someone who believes in supporting your fellow guild members, functioning as an important part of a group, and contributing to an enjoyable environment than we believe you have found yourself a new home.
CODE OF CONDUCT
By signing the Pledge for this province you agree to support and uphold the values of Bellum Aeternus. As a member of this guild you are a direct representation of our beliefs and practices. We are recognized by both friend and foe as an honorable group with high standards of personal conduct. No single player will be permitted to tarnish our reputation. Inappropriate public forum posts and inappropriate in-game actions performed while wearing the tag of this guild will not be tolerated. As a member you are also expected to assist in maintaining the type of gaming environment everyone can participate in, and enjoy being a part of, by lifting up your fellow guild members rather than tearing them down.
VOICE COMMUNICATION
In order to maintain an organized presence every member is required to take part in our voice communications system. Typing simply takes too long and in a game where seconds count, verbal communication is crucial. We do not require players to have a microphone nor do we require members to talk – we simply need each member to have the ability to listen and to respond to the orders given. We understand the occasional inability to log into the communications server but for the most part, even if playing solo, we would like to see players actively logged in should a situation arise where your particular skills are needed.
LANGUAGE POLICY
As a gaming organization attempting to create a fun environment for all members, please refrain from using profane language or discussing inappropriate topics in our public channels. We also require our members to treat one another with respect. Abusive language toward other members will not be tolerated. All issues of conduct should be handled in a civil fashion and if necessary, an officer should be contacted to assist with resolving the conflict. All players are to be treated as equals, period.
RECRUITMENT
We are always on the look-out for new members. The ability to invite new members is only available to guild officers who are trained in feeling out those wishing to join. If you run into someone who is interested in enlisting with Bellum Aeternus or would like to recommend a friend for membership, contact a guild officer either in guild chat, through our voice communications system, or by making a post on the game forums.
INACTIVITY
If you intend to take a leave of absence from the game, we require to be notified through a post on the game forums. Otherwise, all players ranked as legionnaires or below will be removed from the guild roster after 30 days of inactivity. Guild officers, as a perk for their service, are exempt from this policy.
GUILD ALTS
In an attempt to keep the guild roster organized we ask you to hold restraint on requesting invites for your alternate characters. We hope for individuals to focus on one character to provide the guild with enough high level players to partake in the end game content. Alternate characters take away from this possibility, and add unnecessary confusion to the guild roster. Members are limited to one alternate character within the guild. Alternates will be labeled as such in the guild roster as noted below.
GUILD STRUCTURE
There are 6 In-game Titles for the Warhammer Online province. We use these Titles to manage our players as well as confer rank in game. We have roles and responsibilities for each Rank.
RECRUIT
In order to advance, a recruit must read the path & sign the pledge, register with the Bellum Aeternus forums, and log into the communications sever within 30 days of initial membership. Noncompliance will result in removal from the guild. Recruits are not permitted alternates.
LEGIONNAIRE
Legionnaires are the life blood of the guild. They are expected to develop healthy in-game relationships with one another by partaking in groups, being active on the forums, giving assistance to others, and promoting an enjoyable gaming experience for all involved. Those wishing to advance must express their interest to a current guild officer.
LEGIONNAIRE ALT
Reserved for the alternate characters of existing guild Legionnaires.
VETERAN
This title is reserved for those members who have a long standing membership with Bellum Aeternus and who are either from this province and do not wish to be an officer or are joining us from another province but are retired from an active leadership role. Their rank gives them the ability to invite new players to the guild. This is our way of recognizing their commitment to service.
CENTURION
Centurions are the guild officers specifically responsible for running and organizing in-game activities such as PvP scenarios, public quests, war bands, and raids. They are required to take an active part in recruitment, guild roster management, and supporting the enforcement of Bellum Aeternus’s policies. These officers exist to assist in the provision of a gaming environment everyone can participate in and enjoy. Centurions are chosen based upon their desire to partake in the above mentioned responsibilities, a proven track record as a Legionnaire within the guild, and a collective agreement of the existing upper tier officers.
GOVERNOR/S
The guild Governors are the acting representatives of Bellum Aeternus within this particular province. They are responsible for developing and updating the path and pledge as necessary, building up a solid group of guild officers, regulating guild policies and individual responsibilities, overseeing the communications server, and acting as a link between this province and the greater membership of Bellum Aeternus’s gaming community. The Governor position is held by individuals chosen for their ability to best communicate and enforce the desired development of a Bellum Aeternus province.
Group Dynamics
As previously stated, we are a group oriented gaming community who believe in teamwork and tactics. Certain rules must be practiced and enforced to maintain what we consider a standard for our organization.
Party Etiquette
Bellum Aeternus believes strongly in teamwork and tactics. If you are agreeing to take part in a group, you are expected to play as a member of the group. Solo or “Rambo” play styles do not work. Those taking part in a group are expected to be logged into the communications server, willing to accept the leadership decisions of others, and do everything in their power to stick together as a group.
Voice Communications
Those participating in groups are required to be logged into the communication server and in the same channel as their group. Non-group members are not permitted to speak in the channel unless looking for a group, asking information about the current group, or seeking immediate assistance from a guild officer. There is a time and a place for everything – when involved in guild PvP activities please stick to topic, refrain from frantic outbursts or unnecessary bantering, and be clear and concise in the information you provide. The following phrases are universal to our communication protocols – “Com silence” = no talking,
“Controlled coms” = no more messing around/talk only about the mission at hand, and “Open coms” = talk about whatever you want. As a common courtesy, please start every conversation with your character name to cut down on the confusion and then follow it with a clear description of information.
Dying
Always wait for direction before releasing after death. Party cohesion is essential, especially in PvP. Another player might be able to resurrect you or the party might decide to pull back to regroup with you at the spawn point. Letting the entire party know you have fallen and waiting for direction on how to proceed plays a huge part in group dynamic game play.
Giving
The best way to contribute to the guild, apart from as a player people want to be around, is by passing on items you do not need or cannot use to those players who might benefit from them. The best method of handing out gear is by mailing it to players on the guild roster of the appropriate class and level who will most benefit from the item. This goes the same for crafting items and extra income, share and share alike.
Guild Bank
This is not your personal storage space. Only put into the guild bank items which will benefit other members of the guild. Repairable class specific items, bind on equip jewelry or capes, talismans (either crafted or discovered), potions (either crafted or discovered), and high quality crafting materials. Gear should be mailed to the most appropriate player in the guild roster; not crammed away in the guild bank where it will most likely go unnoticed.
Crafting
While not an essential part of Warhammer Online, crafting does play a role in this game. Please post on the forums with the craft you are participating in. Please read the posts of others and contribute to their crafting needs by sending them the needed crafting supplies. All excess crafting items (talismans or potions) should be deposited in the guild bank or mailed to players. Remember – give what you can and encourage others to do the same.
Final Thoughts
Have Fun
This is a game and most of us turn to games for enjoyment. The most important thing we hope you take from being a member of Bellum Aeternus is finding a place where you can come to have fun. If you are not having fun, please let an officer know of your concerns. If you are someone who becomes easily frustrated with others because of their varying degree of skills as a gamer, keep it to yourself or help make them a better player. Elitism is for the other guys – we are looking for players who are interested in taking care of one another.
Last Step
Sign the pledge for Warhammer Online to complete your new membership requirements and make sure to read what you are agreeing to do. This is not just a bunch of words; this is our personal standards for all players to practice.
Welcome to what will hopefully be your new home.
